Discover Amed and East Bali at your own pace
Experiences in Amed
Between the slopes of Mount Agung and the calm water of Bali's east coast, Amed keeps its own easy pace. Fishing boats come in with the morning tide, the reef starts just off the shore, and old temples sit in the hills above.
Tell us what you enjoy and we'll arrange the best things to do in Amed around your stay - a morning on the reef, a Balinese cooking class in your villa, or a traditional dinner with a private dance.

PURA LEMPUYANG & MOUNT AGUNG
Ocean Adventures
Amed's calm, clear waters are renowned among divers the world over. Our Guest Relations team can arrange PADI courses at every level, sunset snorkelling along the reef, or a morning's fishing, with your catch cooked for lunch.
The Spirit of East Bali
In East Bali, ceremony is part of everyday life. With a private guide, visit Pura Lempuyang on the slopes facing Mount Agung, and smaller sacred places tucked into the hills.
Spend time with the weavers of Tenganan, where cloth is still made by hand in the old way, and, when the island's calendar allows, experience a traditional village ceremony.
Local Flavours
Balinese cooking is rooted in ritual and passed from one generation to the next. With a local cook, learn traditional techniques that few kitchens still keep.
Grind base genep, the island's spice paste, by hand, cook slowly over a wood fire and wrap dishes in banana leaf.
Start with a morning at the market, then sit down to lunch with everything you've made.
Experience Guide
Plan your time in East Bali before you arrive. Our guide collects the experiences we can arrange during your stay, from temple journeys and cooking classes to diving, snorkelling and quiet days by the sea.

Signature Experiences
An East Bali Journey
Begin in the soft light of early morning at the water gardens of Tirta Gangga or in the clouds at Pura Lempuyang, before a lunch of grilled fish and a slow afternoon on the white sands of Virgin Beach.
Return to find your villa dressed in traditional Balinese décor, ready for an evening in the island's own style.
A private Balinese dance is followed by a traditional dinner, served in the privacy of your villa.

Blessing and Healing
Ceremony is still part of daily life in East Bali, and guests can share in it, privately and with care.
Melukat
A Balinese water purification ceremony at a temple near Amed, led by a Jero Mangku, a temple priest.
Balinese Healing
A private session with a balian, a traditional Balinese healer, near Taman Ujung in Karangasem.
EAST BALI ARRANGED

Airport transfers
A private driver meets you at Bali International Airport, or anywhere else on the island, and brings you in comfort to East Bali.
Your villa is ready when you arrive. Share your flight or pick-up details with us before your stay.

Private Chef
An in-house chef cooks in your villa, whenever it suits you.
That can mean breakfast on the terrace, a barbecue by the pool, or an evening of Balinese dishes and fresh seafood.
Each menu can be adjusted to your tastes, preferences and any dietary needs.

Cooking Classes
Start the morning at the local market, choosing fresh spices, produce and seafood with a Balinese cook.
Back at the villa, you'll learn traditional methods passed down through village families, grinding spices by hand and cooking in the old way.
Then share a Balinese-inspired lunch or dinner with your family and friends.

Fishing: Catch & cook
Set out before dawn aboard a jukung, the traditional outrigger of Amed's fishing families, as the sun rises over the Bali Sea.
Back at the villa, the chef prepares lunch from the morning's catch, served with sambal matah, steamed rice and the fresh flavours of the Balinese table.

In-Villa Massage
Traditional Balinese massage, given in the privacy of your own villa. Experienced local therapists use long, flowing strokes and gentle pressure with warm aromatic oils, on the terrace, by the pool, or in your room.
Please book a day ahead with Guest Relations.

Celebrations
Mark the day at the villa, and keep it a surprise if you like. While you are out, we'll dress the living room with balloons in the colours you choose, fresh flowers on the table, and a birthday cake from the chef, all ready for when you come back. Add a private dinner, and the celebration is taken care of.

Scuba Diving
Amed's calm, clear waters are known to divers around the world.
PADI courses are available at every level, from a first discovery dive to advanced certification, along with guided dives on the reefs and wrecks of the east coast.

Snorkelling
Coral gardens and tropical fish lie just off Amed's black-sand shore.
You can take a private boat, with a local guide who knows the reef, out to the best snorkelling spots along the coast.
Go out in the calm water of the morning or as the sun goes down.

Sunset Boat Trip
In the late afternoon, a private boat takes you along the coast as the day cools and the light softens over the Bali Sea.
On clear evenings, Mount Agung stands behind the shoreline. Chilled drinks and light canapés can be served on board, and you're back on land as dusk settles.
Tell us how you would like to spend your days, and we will take care of the rest
